Ibstock are continuing its commitment to support the next generation of construction talent through the donation of bricks to colleges right across the UK. In 2024 the Group donated over 311,000 bricks to schools and colleges.
This initiative aims to equip aspiring bricklayers as they learn practical skills, with hands-on experience, allowing them to practice their trade and gain valuable industry insights. By providing high-quality materials, Ibstock is helping to create the workforce of the future and supporting the much needed skill requirement for the UK construction industry.
Colleges receiving these donations will benefit from the opportunity to enhance their bricklaying courses and workshops. Students will gain first-hand experience working with industry-standard materials, fostering a deeper understanding of construction techniques and best practices.
Simon Bright, Lecturer at Truro College said “Lots of colleges around the country have small budgets for full time courses and without the help of companies like Ibstock we couldn't afford brand new bricks every year. These new bricks are essential for our learners to build something and be proud of it. Hopefully in the future this will make them more conscientious trades people who are proud to deliver a high-quality finish.”
Emily Landsborough, Head of ESG at Ibstock said “Improving Lives is one of our sustainability pillars at Ibstock which is all about our commitment to investing our local communities and support the skills agenda. Donating our products to colleges allows students to use high quality bricks to develop their knowledge and enables the next generation to build skills for life.”
This is just one small example of how Ibstock is playing a vital role in shaping the future of the built environment, by supporting education and skills development.
