Green Park Village
The Green Park Village development is a new community created by St Edward Homes, located in a beautiful lakeside setting near to Reading city centre, pairing beautiful homes and essential infrastructure with open green spaces, trim trails, and nature paths.
Set near junction 11 of the M4 - a key route leading to Reading town centre - the development comprised of 1,150 new homes, a train station providing excellent transportation links to and from Reading and London, a primary school, commercial space, a care home and a multi-storey car park across a 25-hectare brownfield site.
Complimented by an array of local amenities at Green Park Business Park—featuring a gym, restaurant, and retail facilities— the development represents the ideal blend of accessibility and escapism.
Ibstock’s client Broadway Malyan supported this project from its initial stages when an outline planning application was first submitted, working closely with St Edward Homes throughout.
In line with the contemporary styling of the development, a range of Ibstock bricks were used across a number of housing and amenity developments, including shops and apartment buildings.
The products selected were Ibstock’s Niveus, Bradgate Medium Grey and New Diana.
Ibstock’s Niveus brick brings a crisp, modern aesthetic with its distinctive white-grey tone and hand-creased texture. It’s compressive strength of 15 N/mm² and frost resistant properties make it ideal for premium residential and commercial projects seeking a contemporary edge.
The Bradgate Medium Grey adds subtle sophistication through a sand-creased finish and a blend of grey and buff tones, backed by a high 20 N/mm² strength and durability across environments.
Meanwhile, the New Diana offers a timeless buff hue with a lightly textured surface, delivering traditional appeal while meeting rigorous performance standards for versatility in construction.
This combination of high quality, aesthetically pleasing and versatile bricks help to give Green Park Village a distinct character attractive to home buyers.
Since opening in 2024, properties on the site have been incredibly popular – residents include Annie Zhang and her husband, who moved 6,000 miles from China to reside in Green Park Village.
In a case study shared by Berkely Group, Annie said: “We didn’t look anywhere other than Green Park Village. As soon as we arrived, we fell in love. There is a large Chinese community here, which made us feel at home straight away. The neighbourhood ticks every box on our list of reasons to move to the UK.”
