The Fairways, Strathaven
As it’s name might suggest, The Fairways – a luxury flats development designed by leading Scottish architectural firm DTA Architects – sits near to the popular Strathaven golf course.
The flats were built on previously undeveloped land, and was part of a local scheme to bring premium but affordable housing to the town.
The Fairways comprises 18 dual aspect two bed-roomed flats that offers spacious accommodation across three stand-alone 3-storey blocks.
The location of the development was a key consideration and offers uninterrupted views across the golf course, with the design maximising the vista of the surrounding landscape via full-height glazing and private coloured balconies to the rear elevation.
The front elevation, instead, has more traditional style windows looking out on to the front landscaped gardens and private parking.
And with view out a key consideration, the look of the development itself was similarly crucial.
It was this consideration that led DTA Architects to specify Ibstock’s Original Ivanhoe Cream as the brick of choice for the Fairways development.
Ibstock’s Original Ivanhoe Cream bricks are a timeless choice for builders and designers seeking a warm, refined aesthetic. These durable clay bricks offer a distinctive pale buff hue with subtle tonal variation—delivering visual warmth and character to both traditional and modern schemes.
That blend of tradition but with an eye catching finish was made them such an ideal choice for the Fairways project; in which aesthetic appeal, and complementing Strathaven’s wider built environment was key.
The soft cream colour of the Original Ivanhoe Cream brick pairs well with a variety of architectural materials, from natural stone and timber to sleek glazing and dark metals. Whether used to create contrast or complement surrounding textures, these bricks provide a clean and inviting finish that enhances kerb appeal.
The bricks paired particularly well with the glazed aspects of the Fairways development, allowing for a subtle yet distinctive contrast in style and material.
