Completed in 2023, Phase 1 of Mulberry Park forms a key part of the evolving Poundbury Garden Village in Dorchester, Dorset—an exemplar of sustainable urban design rooted in traditional architecture and community-focused planning. Situated within Area 3.66 on Peverell Avenue, this first phase introduces a carefully considered mix of homes and streetscapes that reflect the principles of timeless design and environmental responsibility.
Central to the success of Phase 1 is the use of clay brick, chosen for its enduring strength, aesthetic quality, and environmental performance. The brickwork across the development is not merely a cladding material, but a fundamental part of the architectural identity. A refined palette of clay bricks in earthy reds and soft creams was selected to complement the regional vernacular and to create a visually cohesive yet varied streetscape. These materials ground the architecture in its Dorset setting while contributing to a strong and legible public realm.
The craftsmanship and detailing of the brick exteriors enhance the character and individuality of each dwelling, with subtle variations in bond, pattern, and texture used to articulate entrances, corners, and key elevations.
